$24M Seized In Miami Home Of Accused Marijuana Trafficker

The Miami-Dade Police Department made its largest money seizure ever on Wednesday when it discovered $24 million in suspected drug trafficking money in a Miami home.

Authorities say Luis Hernandez-Gonzalez was involved in trafficking marijuana to Tennessee along with two other men. His sister, Salma Hernandez, was also arrested.

Police found five-gallon buckets filled with cash inside the walls of the home. They also discovered a high-powered automatic weapon and steroids.

Gonzalez runs The Blossoms Experience store in Miami-Dade, which police say he was using to sell equipment to grow marijuana and give advice on how to care for the plants. Drugs and $180,000 in cash were also seized from the business.

Police say they had Gonzalez under surveillance since 2010. He faces several drug trafficking-related charges along with money laundering, weapon possession and cannabis possession.

He's being held on a $4 million bond, and his sister is held on a $12,500 bond.

41 νεκροί και 239 τραυματίες: Όλα για τη βομβιστική επίθεση αυτοκτονίας στο μεγαλύτερο αεροδρόμιο της Τουρκίας

Δύο εκρήξεις ταρακούνησαν κύριο αεροδρόμιο της Τουρκίας, στοίχισε τη ζωή σε τουλάχιστον 41 άτομα. Δύο τρομοκράτες ανατινάχθηκαν πριν πάτε μέσα από τις εγκαταστάσεις ελέγχου ασφαλείας.

Έκθεση των πραγματικών περιστατικών

Τρίτη λίγο μετά 2200 ώρες (τοπική ώρα), δύο ισχυρές εκρήξεις συγκλόνισε ένα τερματικό του Ατατούρκ της Κωνσταντινούπολης, το κύριο αεροδρόμιο διεθνές αεροδρόμιο της Τουρκίας.Οι εκρήξεις συνοδεύονταν από πυροβολισμούς.

Σε κοινωνικά δίκτυα εμφανίστηκαν φωτογραφίες και τα βίντεο όπου μπορείτε να δείτε τους ανθρώπους που προσπαθούν να ξεφύγουν από το αεροδρόμιο και τη ζημία που προκλήθηκε από τις εκρήξεις.

Αργότερα, αρχές επιβεβαίωσαν με τα μέσα μαζικής ενημέρωσης ότι είναι μια βομβιστική επίθεση αυτοκτονίας. Υπήρχαν τρεις βομβιστές αυτοκτονίας και οι ίδιοι οι δύο από αυτούς ανατίναξαν πριν πάτε μέσα από τις εγκαταστάσεις ελέγχου ασφαλείας.

Σύμφωνα με διάφορες αναφορές, δύο τρομοκράτες απολύθηκε τέσσερις χειροβομβίδες στον τομέα του ελέγχου και, στη συνέχεια, άρχισαν να πυροβολούν στην αστυνομία. Σύμφωνα με ένα Τούρκο αξιωματικό, ένας από τους επιτιθέμενους της Κωνσταντινούπολης άνοιξε πυρ με ένα Καλάσνικοφ και στη συνέχεια ανατινάχθηκε. Επίσης, οι μάρτυρες ισχυρίζονται ότι έχουν δει τέσσερις ένοπλοι άνδρες που δραπέτευσε από το αεροδρόμιο μετά την επίθεση.

Προκαταρκτικά δεδομένα υποδηλώνουν ότι το Ισλαμικό Κράτος είναι πίσω από τις βομβιστικές επιθέσεις αυτοκτονίας, αναφέρει τουρκικό πρακτορείο ειδήσεων Dogan, παραθέτοντας πηγές της αστυνομίας. Επίσης, ο Πρωθυπουργός της Τουρκίας Μπινάλι Γιλντιρίμ δήλωσε ότι οι εκτελεστές της τρομοκρατικής επίθεσης στο αεροδρόμιο θα μπορούσε να είναι μέλη αυτής της τρομοκρατικής οργάνωσης.

Ο Ερντογάν τόνισε ότι οι επιθέσεις "έλαβε χώρα κατά τη διάρκεια του ιερού μήνα του Ραμαζανιού, το οποίο δείχνει ότι οι επιθέσεις της τρομοκρατίας, χωρίς σκέψεις για την πίστη και τις αξίες». Εξέφρασε επίσης τα συλλυπητήριά του προς τις οικογένειες των πολιτών που έχασαν τη ζωή τους και ολόκληρο το έθνος.

A lionfish in the Mediterranean.

Lionfish have already unleashed their fury on ecosystems across the waters of the Atlantic and Caribbean here in the Western Hemisphere. Now, these beautiful, highly venomous predators are set to tear the Mediterranean apart.

In a paper published today in Marine Biodiversity Records researchers found that lionfish had colonized the shoreline of one Mediterranean island in just a single year.

"Until now, few sightings of the alien lionfish Pterois miles have been reported in the Mediterranean and it was questionable whether the species could invade this region like it has in the western Atlantic," Demetris Kletou, co-author of the paper said in a statement. "But we've found that lionfish have recently increased in abundance, and within a year have colonized almost the entire south eastern coast of Cyprus, assisted by sea surface warming."

Lionfish were originally found in the waters of the Pacific and Indian Oceans. They likely ended up in the Caribbean and Western Atlantic after being released from home aquariums. The invasion of the Mediterranean has different roots.

The expansion of the Suez canal has given lionfish even more access to the Mediterranean Sea, and warming water temperatures have provided the perfect environment for the invasive species.

A lionfish invasion is particularly worrying because they can eat their way through the food chain, devouring all kinds of fish and crustaceans, including commercially important species. They also reproduce at an alarming pace, with each female lionfish producing about 2 million eggs per year.

In North Carolina, lionfish are eating so much that some individuals areconsidered obese. In Florida, some have resorted to cannibalism because of the high numbers there. This year, Florida also started the Lionfish Challengeencouraging divers to kill as many lionfish as they possibly could. Maybe that tradition will spread to the Mediterranean as well.

At least 30 people were killed after a tour bus burst into flames in Hunan Province on Sunday morning, local authorities confirmed. Death toll of the tornado and hailstorms in east China's Jiangsu Province has climbed to 98, local rescue headquarters said on Friday. About 800 people were injured, it said. Intense downpours, hailstorms and a tornado battered parts of Yancheng City close to the eastern coast of China at 2:30 pm on Thursday, destroying buildings, trees, vehicles and electricity poles. Search for the people through the debris has been completed, said Zhou Xiang, head of the Jiangsu provincial fire corps on Friday. Cleaning efforts are underway. More than 1,300 police officers have been called in to assist with the rescue efforts and providing help to the displaced residents. Chinese President Xi Jinping has ordered all-out rescue efforts and the prioritization of life-saving measures. The city has activated its highest response system following the extreme weather. Tornados occasionally hit eastern and southern China during the summer, but rarely with the scale of damage like this one in Yancheng. A similar disaster hit the city in March 1966.

Virginia's governor has declared a state of emergency in Alleghany County and Covington after severe weather and flooding. Gov. Terry McAuliffe tweeted Thursday night that a state of emergency has been declared, allowing state agencies to bypass some time-consuming procedures to quickly help local governments. Residents of downtown Covington, as well as low-lying areas of the city, were evacuated Thursday night to established shelters, WDBJ reported. Evacuations were ordered as the Jackson River neared record levels. Roads were closed and several house fires were sparked by lightning as the storms pushed through the Commonwealth. According to the Roanoke Times, a handful of roads were closed by flooding in Covington and Alleghany County, and a few other roads were shut down in Botetourt County, the state Department of Transportation said. House fires were blamed on lightning in Read Mountain, Goode and Thaxton, the report added. No injuries were reported in those incidents.

Seven people were killed, including a toddler, after powerful storms swamped West Virginia on Thursday night, cutting power and plunging hundreds of thousands of people into darkness. The search for 4-year-old Edward McMillion ended in heartbreak after officials said Friday that they found his body. The boy had vanished in the rising waters in Ravenswood, Jackson County, which sits along the Ohio River on the Ohio border. Three other deaths occurred in Kanawha County, while a another death occurred in Ohio County in West Virginia's northern panhandle, the governor's office said. Authorities in Greenbrier County announced Friday afternoon that two males were also found dead - bringing the death toll up to seven. Officials did not immediately identify the victims, although local reports said one of those killed in Ohio County was an 8-year-old who had slipped into a creek and was carried away. He later died at a hospital, The Intelligencer reported. Meanwhile, an elderly man was killed in the floodwaters in Kanawha County, while a woman there was washed away in her vehicle in another incident, NBC affiliate WSAZ reported. In one dramatic scene in White Sulphur Springs in the state's south, where up to 10 inches of rain fell Thursday, the flood waters pushed a burning home down the Howard Creek. Forty-four counties, primarily in the southeastern part of the state, were under a state of emergency Thursday night because of flood waters, emergency officials said. Electric utilities reported that almost 500,000 customers were without power. "We surely need your prayers because there's a lot of people hurting right now," Jim Justice, owner of the luxury Greenbrier Resort, told The Weather Channel. Kanawha County was especially inundated, and dozens of water rescues were under way in and around Clendenin, where numerous roads were closed by racing flood waters, WSAZ said. "There's been a ton of areas that have been hit hard" by as much as 7 inches of rain, said Danielle Banks, a meteorologist for The Weather Channel. Mark Burgess, wife Lisa and parents-in-law Bill and Peggy Lucas were occupying the second floor of their home in Elkview when the waters started rising at around 1:30 am ET. Mark Burgess told NBC News on Friday morning there was about four feet of water, "but it has stopped going up now." He said it was the first time that residents have witnessed such flooding. "My mother-in-law has lived here for 80 years, and this never happened before," he said. "There is nothing you can do," he added. "We can call for help if it's too deep, but it's OK right now."
