New Volvo S90 leaks out
The new Volvo S90 is due to be revealed later today, but we have the first official photo ahead of that reveal as the new S90 leaks on to the web.
The new Volvo S90 – a new flagship for Volvo and replacement for the S80 – is due to be revealed later today (2 December 2015), but we already have the first official photo of the S90 thanks to a leaked photo from Autoblog in the Netherlands.
Of course, how the S90 looks isn’t a great surprise as we’ve already seen it as a scale model (well, a scale model of the S90’s estate sibling – the Volvo V90) thanks to a leaky Chinese model factory, but it’s good to see it manages to carry over much of the look of the Concept, albeit a little toned-down.
Whether or not Volvo will also reveal the other variants of the S90 today – theV90 Estate and V90 Cross Country – remains to be seen, but if we do get just the S90 – ahead of its debut at Detroit – the reveal of the estate and Cross Country shouldn’t be too far behind.
At first look, Volvo do seem to have managed to deliver a more stylish and appealing (and bigger) car than the S80, with its coupe-like roofline, statement ‘Thor’ lights and a familiar grill and nose; a saloon reprise of much of what the new XC90 offers.
That XC90 theme looks set to continue to the interior, with Swedish luxury front and centre – and understated – lots of blonde wood and a big tablet infotainment screen.
Under the bonnet will be the same range of 2.0 litre Drive-E engines as the XC90, offering the promise of good performance – especially from the S90 T8 – and impressive economy.
But we’ll find out the details later today.
