Syrian rebels have captured the Roman Amphitheater in the ancient town of Bosra after heavy fighting with Hezbollah and the Syrian army as the video shows. The battle occured in Daraa, southern Syria where rebels have a strong presence. The Amphitheater was captured without any damage caused to it but other parts of the ancient town where destroyed due to heavy fighting between the conflict parties.
Bosra, once the capital of the Roman province of Arabia, was an important stopover on the ancient caravan route to Mecca. A magnificent 2nd-century Roman theatre, early Christian ruins and several mosques are found within its great walls.
