Congratulations on your win at the Battle Of The Year! How did that feel? The complete event was a great experience for me. I was so happy to back at the longest running B-Boy competition in the world and take the solo B-Boy battle title home with me. My last appearance was in 2010, when I lost in the final against B-Boy Thesis. Thesis is also a part of the Top 16 for this year’s Red Bull BC One World Final. It feels so good to be back after four years and win the solo battle– it means the world to me.
My preparation for the Battle Of The Year was quite intense, because it’s not only about practice. Next to that, I practice everyday for battles and to keep fit. I have no special training methods. I just know that with hard work and dedication, I will reach my goals. Practicing and all the aspects that come along with, it has become more of a habit for me. It just feels natural, because I train everyday whenever possible.
What did you learn from your previous World Final appearance in 2012?
The Red Bull BC One Brazil World Final 2012 was my first big experience on the Red Bull BC One stage. I remember at that time that I didn’t have the knowledge or experience to win an event like that. I felt that I was not ready for the World Final, but I learned a lot, and looking back at the past two years I’ve gained so much experience that I’m now more relaxed for battles, no matter how big the stage. I feel like I can present my style and myself everywhere I want.
You now represent O.B.C. Crew. What can you tell us about that? It’s been a year now, and I’m glad to be part of it– the letters stand for “Original Breakers Circle.” The crew is 16 years old, and I’ve known about them since I began breaking in 2002. I was at big competitions with them before, like Battle Of The Year CIS 2011. It’s great to have a crew who can inspire and motivate you, and luckily that’s the case!
What are you expectations for the World Final?
First of all, I must say that getting one of the two last Wild Cards makes me incredibly happy and gets me excited to perform my best for Paris. I didn’t expect to be a part of the Red Bull BC One World Final this year, but I guess my win at the Battle Of The Year showed I’m ready. I’m expecting the battles will all be top-level, right from the start. Looking at the lineup, there are nothing but strong B-Boys and it’s going to be epic!
