Συγκλονιστική μαρτυρία

Ansar al Sharia in Libya criticizes Muslim Brotherhood

On Aug. 20, Ansar al Sharia in Libya released a statement that criticized the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt for participating in the democratic process, and for failing to implement sharia, or Islamic law. The statement, which was obtained and translated by the SITE Intelligence Group, is very similar to criticisms leveled by al Qaeda's emir, Ayman al Zawahiri, and by Shabaab, al Qaeda's affiliate in Somalia.
Ansar al Sharia in Libya says that the Muslim Brotherhood was wrong for using the democratic process to attempt to gain power, and that it failed to implement sharia once it won the election. The group then criticizes the leadership of the Brotherhood for not recognizing its own errors. Below is an excerpt from the statement:
What did you gain from entering the game of democracy under the pretext of implementing the Shariah, even though that way and that excuse are not correct[?] After the concessions that you presented to the West and America to reach power, here you got it and yet you didn't implement the Shariah as you said you would. With this disbelieving secular democracy, the international regime on which you depended let you down and you ended up in the whirlpool alone. Thus, is there any reasoning and awareness that the path you took is false and it is not a way to implement the Shariah if you really meant to do so[?] Here are your leaders in prisons and their homes being stormed, and you are afflicted with humiliation that will never be lifted until you return to your pure religion and leave the way of democracy.
The peoples were dragged behind you and they were deceived. Today, many people are being killed in Egypt in order to bring back your legitimacy that was brought down, and we don't find anyone from among you coming out and showing these peoples the falsehood in which you were and that you learned from your experience, and to call on these peoples to implement the Shariah and not the lost legitimacy to which you arrived through democracy ...
Ansar al Sharia in Libya then urges Muslims worldwide, and the people of Syria [the Levant], which it describes as "the land of jihad and epics, in particular, whose jihad is still continuing against all the forces of falsehood," to:
...not to be dragged behind the maimed calls of reform that concede to the global system and the West, and not to take democracy as a way of reform.
Ansar al Sharia in Libya stops short of openly calling for Muslims worldwide to wage jihad against the local governments and the West, but with its reference to the Syrian jihad, the meaning is clear.
Ansar al Sharia in Libya has admitted its involvement in the assault on a US diplomatic facility in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012 in which the US ambassador and three other Americans were killed. In December 2012, Egypt arrested Muhammad Jamal al Kashef, a main suspect in the Benghazi consulate assault. Al Kashef has direct, longstanding connections to al Qaeda leader Ayman al Zawahiri. He has similar connections to Zawahiri's younger brother Mohammed and to other jihadist leaders, including the head of Ansar al Sharia Egypt, who were involved in protests outside the US Embassy in Cairo on Sept. 11, 2012.
Israeli Air Force strikes south of Beirut in response to rocket fire

Early on Aug. 23, the Israeli Air Force struck a "terror site" south of Beirut, Lebanon. An IDF spokesman said the attack near the town of Na'ameh was in response to the rocket fire from Lebanon on Aug. 22.
"Yesterday's attack is a blatant breach [of] Israeli sovereignty that jeopardized Israeli civilian life. Israel will not tolerate terrorist aggression originating from Lebanese territory. The IDF will continue to operate to safeguard the State of Israel and its civilians," an IDF statement said.
The pilots involved in the mission returned safely after striking their intended target, according to the IDF.
In a statement posted on its website, the pro-Assad Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command (PFLP-GC) said the strike targeted one of its facilities. A statement from the Lebanese Armed Forces confirmed that underground tunnels belonging to a Palestinian faction were targeted. A Lebanese security source told Reuters the targeted site "was home as well to Islamist militants."
A PFLP-GC official warned that the group will respond to the Israeli strike "in the right place and the right time," according to press reports.
On Aug. 22, an official from the Abdullah Azzam Brigades claimed on Twitter that the group's Ziad Jarrah Batallions had launched the rockets, one of which was intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system. The group has yet to issue a formal statement, however.
In response to the Aug. 22 attack, the IDF said that it held the Lebanese government and Lebanese Armed Forces responsible although it believed members of the "global jihad" launched the rockets. In addition, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned: "Anyone who harms us should know and anyone who tries to harm us should know we will harm them back."
Israeli authorities are investigating why the Iron Dome missile defense system failed to intercept more of the rockets fired from Lebanon on Aug. 22, according to Ynet News.
A statement from the Lebanese Armed Forces said they had found the suspected launch site of the rockets and were working "in coordination with UNIFIL to uncover the circumstances and to determine the identity of the perpetrators."
Background on the Abdullah Azzam Brigades
The Abdullah Azzam Brigades was formed by Saleh al Qarawi sometime after 2004 as an offshoot of al Qaeda in Iraq, and was tasked with hitting targets in the Levant and throughout the Middle East. Al Qarawi is now believed to be in Saudi custody. The group is now led by Majid bin Muhammad al Majid.
The Abdullah Azzam Brigades is named after al Qaeda's co-founder and Osama bin Laden's mentor. The group was added to the US's list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists in May 2012.
Qarawi has been described as a "field commander" by Flashpoint Intel, which published a translation of an interview that was released in April 2010. According to Qarawi, he fought with former al Qaeda in Iraq leader Abu Musab al Zarqawi in Fallujah (presumably in the two battles in 2004), and was ordered by Zarqawi to form the Abdullah Azzam Brigades.
"Allah rewarded me to participate with my brothers in Fallujah, and I came to know the Sheikh Abu Musab al Zarqawi--may Allah have mercy on him--closely, and he assigned me to a job outside of Iraq," he said.
In the same interview, Qarawi said that the Abdullah Azzam Brigades are tasked with striking not only with striking in Lebanon but also elsewhere.
"[The Abdullah Azzam Brigades] are not confined to Lebanon but there are targets that our fires will reach Allah‐willing in the near future ... the Brigades are formed of a number of groups that are spread in numerous places ... and the groups of 'Ziad al‐Jarrah' in Lebanon are only some of our groups, and we rushed to create these groups and announced them because of the urgency of the battle with the Jews and the priority of the initiative at the time and the place, but the rest of the groups are outside Lebanon."
The "Ziad al Jarrah" is one of several battalions in the Abdullah Azzam Brigades. It operates primarily in Lebanon, and is named after Ziad al Jarrah, a Lebanese citizen who was one of the masterminds of the Sept. 11 attacks on the US. He was the pilot of United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed into a field in Shanksville, Penn. after passengers attempted to retake the plane from the terrorist hijackers.
Yusuf al 'Uyayri Battalion, another unit in the Abdullah Azzam Brigades, operates on the Arabian Peninsula and has claimed it executed the attack on the M Star, a Japanese oil tanker traveling off the coast of Oman from Qatar to Japan.
The US State Department has said that the group "is responsible for numerous indiscriminate rocket attacks on Israeli civilians." In addition to the rocket fire from Lebanon noted by the State Dept., the group has also claimed responsibility for rockets fired from Gaza into Israel onmultiple occasions.
The Abdullah Azzam Brigades releases propaganda on a routine basis. Over the past three years, the group has advocated for the overthrow of the Saudi government and called for an uprising in Lebanon, as well as voiced support for jihad in Syria. The terror group also released a statement immediately after the death of al Qaeda emir Osama bin Laden in May 2011.
"May Allah have mercy on Osama, the Sheikh of Jihad, the Imam of Piety, the example of asceticism and the model of patience, the pioneer of glory in this age, and the awakener of the Ummah from its slumber," the terror group said, in a statement translated by the SITE Intelligence Group. The group also said it had been formed "after incitation" by bin Laden.
"We in the Brigades of Abdullah Azzam bear witness that we only went out for jihad after incitation from Sheikh Osama bin Laden, by his words and his actions. He is the one enacted among the people of the time, the tradition to invade infidels in their homes, and created a front to fight the Jews and the Crusaders," the statement said.
More recently, on Aug. 17, Sirajuddin Zurayqat, a member of the jihadist group, offered a eulogy in video posted to jihadist forums for former deputy leader of al Qaeda in the Arabia Peninsula Said al Shihri, who was confirmed dead by AQAP on July 16.
Additionally, the group has expressed strong disdain for Hezbollah's role in the ongoing Syrian civil war. In a recent statement, Majid bin Muhammad al Majid, a leader in the Abdullah Azzam Brigades, called on Sunnis to fight Hezbollah and its interests, which he deemed "legitimate targets."

Απέραντες φυτείες με χασίς στο Λαζαράτι, μόλις 20 χιλιόμετρα από τα ελληνοαλβανικά σύνορα, βιντεοσκόπησε και κατέγραψε από τον αέρα με ελικόπτερο η ιταλική αστυνομία.
Από την επεξεργασία των στοιχείων προκύπτει ότι για φέτος εκτιμάται πως θα παραχθούν πάνω από 1.000 τόνοι χασίς και μαριχουάνα και θα αποφέρουν σχεδόν 4,5 δισ. ευρώ. Οι κάτοικοι του χωριού με τα καστρόσπιτα και τα πολυτελή τζιπ στον αλβανικό Νότο ζουν αποκλειστικά από την? καλλιέργεια χασίς για λογαριασμό της τοπικής μαφίας και έχουν μεγάλα ετήσια εισοδήματα, που υπολογίζονται από 50.000 μέχρι και 150.000 ευρώ ανά οικογένεια.
Στη συνέντευξη Τύπου που έδωσε από κοινού με τους Ιταλούς συναδέλφους του, ο γενικός διευθυντής της αλβανικής αστυνομίας, Χίσνι Μπουργκάι, παραδέχτηκε ότι «οργιάζει» η διακίνηση ναρκωτικών και ότι «προβληματικές περιοχές για την καλλιέργεια χασισόδεντρων παραμένουν επίσης η Αυλώνα, η Σκόδρα, το Αργυρόκαστρο, το Δυρράχιο και η ύπαιθρος των Τιράνων».

Επιτελείς του Τμήματος Δίωξης Οικονομικού Εγκλήματος της ιταλικής αστυνομίας (Guardia di Finanza) μετέβησαν για οκτώ εβδομάδες στο Λαζαράτι για την εναέρια παρακολούθηση της χασισοκαλλιέργειας, στο πλαίσιο συμφωνίας που υπογράφηκε τον Ιούνιο του 2012 μεταξύ των δύο χωρών. Η βιντεοσκόπηση και η αεροφωτογράφηση έγιναν με τη βοήθεια ψηφιακών καμερών και αισθητήρων που έφεραν τα δύο ελικόπτερα, σε συνεργασία με το Πανεπιστήμιο της Νάπολης.
Τα αποτελέσματα παραδόθηκαν στην αλβανική αστυνομία και είναι συγκλονιστικά. «Εχουμε ανακαλύψει τεράστιες εκτάσεις που καλλιεργούνται αποκλειστικά και μόνο με χασισόδεντρα. Αυτό δεν το έχουμε συναντήσει ποτέ και πουθενά», δήλωσε ο διευθυντής του Τμήματος Πολιτικής Αεροπορίας της Guardia di Finanza, Στέφανο Μπαστόνι.
Διπλασιασμός
Φέτος η... παραγωγή έχει διπλασιαστεί, καθώς πέρυσι είχε γίνει μια μεγάλη επιχείρηση της αλβανικής αστυνομίας, στη διάρκεια της οποίας ξεριζώθηκαν χιλιάδες χασισόδεντρα. Οι καλλιεργητές έπεσαν σε απόγνωση, αφού είδαν τη? σοδειά να περιορίζεται, φέτος όμως αναμένουν πολλή και καλή παραγωγή.
«Η διπλάσια παραγωγή θα φέρει και διπλάσια κέρδη. Πέρυσι υπερίσχυσε η αστυνομία, φέτος όμως εξαφανίστηκε», όπως λένε. Αυτές τις μέρες στο Λαζαράτι έχουν σπεύσει πάνω από 700 εργάτες από την κεντρική Αλβανία, που θα απασχοληθούν στην φροντίδα των χασισόδεντρων, ενώ δύο Γάλλοι δημοσιογράφοι που επιχείρησαν να κάνουν ρεπορτάζ για το θέμα κυνηγήθηκαν και απειλήθηκαν, μαζί τους και ο Αλβανός μεταφραστής τους, που μάλιστα έχει... επικηρυχθεί (!).
Οι μεγαλύτερες καλλιέργειες έχουν εντοπιστεί στα δυτικά του χωριού, εκεί όπου υπάρχουν απέραντες εκτάσεις μόνο με χασισόδεντρα και αυτές τις μέρες ξεκινά η συγκομιδή του χασίς.
Οι Ιταλοί ενδιαφέρονται ιδιαίτερα για τις φυτείες στο Λαζαράτι, καθώς γνωρίζουν ότι το 95-98% της παραγωγής, όπως και της αντίστοιχης του Αργυροκάστρου, διακινείται στη χώρα τους. Ενδεικτικοί είναι οι τίτλοι των ιταλικών εφημερίδων μετά την εναέρια χαρτογράφηση. Η Repubblica τιτλοφόρησε το ρεπορτάζ «Λαζαράτι, η ευρωπαϊκή πόλη των ναρκωτικών» και η Corriere della Sera «Αλβανία, ο προμηθευτής των ναρκωτικών».
Λαζαράτι, to «απαγορευμένο μήλο»
Σπίτια - οχυρά με στόματα ερμητικά κλειστά
Το Λαζαράτι είναι γνωστό στην Αλβανία ως... «απαγορευμένο μήλο», καθώς δεν είναι εύκολο να προσεγγίσει κανείς, ιδιαίτερα δε η αστυνομία.
Πρόκειται για ένα μικρό ορεινό χωριό στην επαρχία Αργυροκάστρου και οι κάτοικοί του είναι πολύ βαριά οπλισμένοι. Μένουν σε πολυτελείς κατοικίες με θεόρατους τοίχους για να κρύβουν το εσωτερικό τους από τον δρόμο, κυκλοφορούν με πολυτελή αυτοκίνητα 4Χ4, ενώ μια συνάντηση με τους άντρες του χωριού αποτελεί τρομακτική εμπειρία, αφού όλοι κρατούν στα χέρια όπλα, που απέκτησαν από την εξέγερση του 1997.
Πριν από δύο χρόνια είχε κάνει τον γύρο του κόσμου ένα βίντεο που τράβηξαν κρυφά Ολλανδοί τουρίστες -εκτιμάται ότι δόθηκε από την αστυνομία- και έδειχνε μαθητές του δημοτικού να πηγαίνουν στο σχολείο τους διασχίζοντας χασισοφυτείες.
Παντού βασιλεύει ο νόμος της σιωπής και οι βαρόνοι των ναρκωτικών αρέσκονται να λένε πως έχουν μετατρέψει το χωριό τους σε «Κολομβία της Ευρώπης».
Πληροφορίες αναφέρουν ότι τα χρήματα από την καλλιέργεια χασίς στο Λαζαράτι χρηματοδοτούν πολιτικά κόμματα και οργανώσεις στα Τίρανα, όπου και φτάνουν μεγάλες καταθέσεις προς τις τράπεζες μέσα σε βαλίτσες, χωρίς κανείς να ρωτήσει πού βρέθηκαν τέτοια ποσά. Κάτοικοι της περιοχής έχουν επενδύσει σε ακίνητα στην Αλβανία, αλλά και στην Ιταλία, αναφέρεται μάλιστα πως Αλβανοί από το Λαζαράτι έχουν επενδύσει σε τουριστικές μονάδες ακόμη και στο Κάπρι.
Αλβανικά κυκλώματα
Δεκάδες τόνοι περνούν στην Ελλάδα
Δεκάδες τόνους χασίς, όπως εκτιμάται, προωθούν κάθε χρόνο με κάθε τρόπο τα αλβανικά κυκλώματα προς την Ελλάδα και ένα μεγάλο μέρος τους μέσω της μεθορίου στην Ηπειρο, όπου η ΕΛ.ΑΣ. μαζί και με το Λιμενικό τα τελευταία χρόνια έχουν εντείνει τις προσπάθειές τους. Μόνο τον περασμένο χρόνο οι αστυνομικές αρχές στους τέσσερις νομούς της Ηπείρου κατέσχεσαν περίπου 11 τόνους χασίς, ενώ άλλους 7 τόνους κατέσχεσαν οι αλβανικές αρχές πριν μπουν στο ελληνικό έδαφος.
Πάντως, τα τελευταία δύο χρόνια, όπως λένε στελέχη της ΕΛ.ΑΣ., τα κυκλώματα των Αλβανών ανακάλυψαν νέα περάσματα στη Θεσπρωτία για να μεταφέρουν τα ναρκωτικά. «Τα κυκλώματα των Αλβανών έχουν χωρίσει τα σύνορα της πατρίδας μας. Αυτοί που φέρνουν ναρκωτικά μέσω της δυτικής Μακεδονίας δεν μπαίνουν στην Ηπειρο. Ακολουθούν παραδοσιακές μεθόδους, με μουλάρια, με ταξιδιωτικούς σάκους, με τα πόδια. Στην Ηπειρο δρουν πιο... προχωρημένες συμμορίες. Φτάνουν από τη θάλασσα, από νέα, δύσβατα περάσματα, από μονοπάτια που άνοιξαν οι ίδιοι στη Θεσπρωτία», είπε στο «Εθνος» υψηλόβαθμο στέλεχος της ΕΛ.ΑΣ.

Aleppo satellite images

Satellite images released by Amnesty International and featured at The Huffington Post show the scale of damage to Aleppo, Syria:
The images were taken between September 2012 and May 2013 and track individual instances of physical damage across Aleppo. An analysis of the photos by the American Association for the Advancement of Science concluded that the distribution of destroyed buildings and roads is "severely lopsided" towards opposition-held areas of the city.
