In Episode 2 of mountain bike masterpiece Seasons of Shred, the crew's journey through the highlands of Peru continues. We follow them from Cusco to Ollantaytambo to take part in the Inca Avalanche race, a hardcore enduro event. But it wasn't all work and no play. After some grueling days at the Inca Avalanche it was time to check out one of the seven wonders of the world, Machu Picchu. After a quick visit the crew found one last mtb riding stop above the Sacred Valley before ending their Inca invasion.

Central Asian jihadist group joins ISIS

Fighters from Sabiri's Jamaat, which joined the Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham earlier this year.

A jihadist group made up of Uzbeks, Tajiks, and Russians from the Caucasus that operates in Syria has sworn allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham.

The group, known as Sabiri's Jamaat, swore allegiance to the ISIS in March, according to From Chechnya to Syria, a website that tracks fighters from the Caucasus and Central Asia who are waging jihad in Syria.

Sabiri's Jamaat is currently led by "Khalid ad-Dagestani," a jihadist from the Republic of Dagestan in the Russian Caucasus, according to a fighter who explained why the group joined the ISIS. The group's previous emir, Abdullo Tashkenti, was from Uzbekistan and we killed earlier this year.

The exact size of the group is not known, but likely has scores of fighters. In a video (below) released by the group back in January, at least 70 fighters are pictured. The speaker in the video says that the group is made up "Uzbekis, Tajiks, Chechens, and Dagestanis."

Several of the ISIS's flags are prominently displayed in the video. And the fighters appear to be well armed and equipped. At the end of the video, a small convoy made up of SUVs, minivans, cars, motorcycles, and a flat bed truck with anti-aircraft guns mounted on the back is shown. Then short clips of the group fighting at night are also shown.

A fighter from Sabiri's Jamaat claimed his group swore allegiance to the ISIS after the fighters from Al Nusrah Front, al Qaeda's official branch in Syria, attempted to confiscate its anti-aircraft artillery. Khalid ad-Dagestani then met with Omar Shishani, a Chechen who serves as a top military commander in the ISIS, and swore an oath to the jihadist group.

Jihadists from the Caucasus and Central Asia play a prominent role in fighting for al Qaeda and the ISIS inside Syria. Chechens command fighting units in both jihadist groups. An Uzbek known as Abu Hussein leads the Seyfuddin Uzbek Jamaat, which serves in the Al Nusrah Front. Two other Chechens known as Abu Walid al Shishani and Muslim al Shishani, also lead groups within the Al Nusrah Front. Additionally, some fighters from the Caucasus have remained neutral in the open dispute between the ISIS and the Al Nusrah Front. Al Qaeda disowned the ISIS earlier this year after a leadership dispute between the ISIS and Al Nusrah devolved into open warfare.

Jaish al Muhajireen wal Ansar, or the Army of the Emigrants and Helpers, which is led by a Chechen known as Salahuddin al Shishani, has fought alongside both the ISIS and Al Nusrah and its allies such as Ahrar al Sham and the Islamic Front. Salahuddin's deputy is Abdul Karim Krymsky, a Crimean Tatar from the Ukraine.

Man Crashes Truck Into TV Station

Police in Baltimore County, Maryland say a man who's suffering from emotional or mental issues crashed a truck into TV station WMAR. The man was arrested and taken away for medical treatment. (May 14)

Orphaned Elephant Calf Refuses To Leave Mother's Side

AN ORPHANED elephant calf holds a vigil by the body of his dead mother in Samburu, northern Kenya. Worried that the five-month-old might succumb to cold or be targeted by predators, keepers from the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust worked through the night to capture the bull - who stubbornly refused to leave his mother's side. Vets were eventually able to tranquillise the youngster in the early hours of the morning, before driving him to the Samburu airstrip, and then flying him to his new home at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Elephant Orphanage in the Nairobi National Park. After the flight, the severely dehydrated calf was driven to the orphanage, where keepers quenched his thirst with some milk and water. Some of the other 30 orphans at the nursery were bought in to welcome and comfort the new arrival, who was named Sokotei. And despite the shock of his new surroundings, it wasn't long before the grieving calf was making new friends. For more information about the work done by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, please visit: http://www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org

Η Τουρκία «χοντραίνει» το παιχνίδι των ενεργειακών κοιτασμάτων στην ανατολική Μεσόγειο σε μια αμφισβητουμένη περιοχή μεταξύ της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας και της ελληνικής ΑΟΖ που περιλαμβάνει και την νήσο Καστελόριζο, καθώς με μια νέα προκλητική κίνηση προχωρούν στην εγκατάσταση μόνιμης πλατφόρμας άντλησης πετρελαίου αδιαφορώντας για τις όποιες, ουσιαστικά ανύπαρκτες, ελληνικές η κυπριακές αντιδράσεις.

Σύμφωνα με δημοσιεύματα του τουρκικού τύπου, (εφημερίδες Milliyet, και της φιλοκυβερνητικής Yeni Şafak), η Τουρκία σε συνεργασία με την αμερικανική εταιρεία, Shell, προχωρεί στην μόνιμη εγκατάσταση πλατφόρμας άντλησης πετρελαίου, την οποία μάλιστα έχει ονομάσει χαρακτηριστικά, «Εθνική Πλατφόρμα», (Milli platforme), ανοιχτά του λιμένα της Αττάλειας, στα ύδατα της ανατολικής Μεσογείου όπου όπως είναι γνωστό υπάρχει έντονη αμφισβήτηση για την κυριαρχία της θαλάσσιας περιοχής. Η ανακοίνωση για την εγκαταστάτη της τουρκικής πλατφόρμας στην περιοχή, έγινε από το τουρκικό υπουργείο Ενέργειας, την ίδια ώρα που το γνωστό τουρκικό ερευνητικό πλοίο, Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa, συνεχίζει ανενόχλητο τις έρευνες του για την ανεύρεση ενεργειακών κοιτασμάτων σε διαμφισβητούμενες περιοχές στην ευρύτερη ανατολική Μεσόγειο. Όπως δήλωσε χαρακτηριστικά ο Τούρκος υπουργός Ενέργειας, Taner Yıldız, η πλατφόρμα αναμένεται να εγκατασταθεί εντός του έτους καθώς οι έρευνες προχωρούν και εντοπίζονται τα ενεργειακά κοιτάσματα που θα καθορίσουν και το ακριβές στίγμα της εγκατάστασης της εν λόγω πλατφόρμας άντλησης πετρελαίου στην ανατολική Μεσόγειο.

Η νέα αυτή τουρκική πρόκληση στην περιοχή, έχει μεγάλη σημασία καθώς γίνεται ενώ συνεχίζονται οι συνομιλίες, βάση των νέων αμερικανικών σχεδίων για την «επίλυση», (βλέπε θάψιμο), του Κυπριακού. Αυτές τις μέρες αναμένεται να επισκεφτεί την Κύπρο ο αντιπρόεδρος των ΗΠΑ, Τζο Μπάιντεν, για να ασκήσει και νέα πίεση προς την ελληνοκυπριακή πλευρά να επισπευστούν οι διαδικασίες επίλυσης του προβλήματος. Την ίδια ώρα το Ευρωπαϊκό Δικαστήριο Ανθρωπίνων Δικαιωμάτων καταδίκασε την Τουρκία σε αποζημίωση στην Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία για την τουρκική εισβολή του 1974, το πόσο των 90 εκατομμυρίων ευρώ, μια απόφαση που η Τουρκία δια του υπουργού Εξωτερικών της, Αχμέτ Νταβούτογλου δήλωσε με προκλητικό τρόπο ότι την.. «γράφει στα παλαιότερα των υποδημάτων της»! Κλασσική τουρκική συμπεριφορά!

Το ζήτημα όμως των ενεργειακών κοιτασμάτων και των τουρκικών προκλητικών κινήσεων στην περιοχή της ανατολικής Μεσογείου, παίρνει νέες διαστάσεις εν όψει των καταλυτικών εξελίξεων τον συριακό εμφύλιο. Οι ισλαμιστές που ενισχύονται από την Τουρκία χάνουν τελικά τον πόλεμο με σοβαρές συνέπειες για την τουρκική πολιτική στην περιοχή. Αυτός είναι και ένα από του σοβαρούς λόγους για τους οποίους η Άγκυρα επισπεύδει την επαναπροσέγγιση της με το Ισραήλ στην προσπάθεια της να ανακτήσει των άξονα Τουρκίας-Ισραήλ. Η επιδίωξη της Τουρκίας είναι να συνεταιριστεί με το Ισραήλ στην εκμετάλλευση των ενεργειακών κοιτασμάτων της ανατολικής Μεσογείου και κυρίως της κυπριακής ΑΟΖ, ακυρώνοντας οριστικά τα όποια σχέδια της κατασκευής του ενεργειακού αγωγού, Ισραήλ- Κύπρου -Κρήτης -Ελλάδας -Ευρώπης.

Σε όλες αυτές τις σημαντικότατες εξελίξεις και ενώ στο Αιγαίο συνεχίζεται καθημερινά ο ακήρυκτος ελληνοτουρκικός πόλεμος στον αέρα και στην θάλασσα, η ελληνική πλευρά είναι σκανδαλωδώς πλήρως απούσα. Αυτή την περίοδο το μόνο που ενδιαφέρει του κυβερνώντες είναι το πως θα διασωθούν από τις επερχόμενες εκλογές, επιστρατεύοντας… «αγίους και δαίμονες», για να συνεχίσουν το καταστροφικό τους έργο που οδήγησε την χώρα μας στην απελπισία και στην καταστροφή. Όσον αφορά τα εθνικά μας συμφέροντα και τα εθνικά μας θέματα… «άλλο λόγια να αγαπιόμαστε» και κυρίως μην τυχόν δυσαρεστήσουμε κάποιους «συμμάχους» μας στην άλλη πλευρά του Ατλαντικού. Α ρε καημένε Μακρυγιάννη! Μήπως και εσύ ήσουν…. φασίστας και ρατσιστής ;
